TEANECK, N.J. — A 72-year-old woman from Wayne, New Jersey, has been charged with making a false public alarm following an investigation into a bomb threat hoax at Holy Name Medical Center in Teaneck, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced on Thursday.
The charge against Adele Ulrich is the result of a months-long investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, led by Chief Matthew Finck. Authorities allege that on August 17, 2024, an anonymous caller using technology to mask their caller ID placed a phone call to Holy Name Medical Center, claiming that multiple bombs were set to detonate inside the facility.
Following the threat, first responders, including the Teaneck Police Department, Teaneck Fire Department, and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad, were dispatched to the hospital to secure the site. Hospital officials collaborated with emergency personnel to ensure the safety of patients and staff while law enforcement agencies conducted a thorough search of the premises.
Meanwhile, detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Threat Management Unit and Cyber Crimes Unit launched an investigation to trace the origin of the call. After extensive efforts, investigators determined that the bomb threat was a hoax, and no danger existed.
Ulrich’s arrest underscores the serious legal consequences of making false threats, particularly those that disrupt public safety and emergency resources. Prosecutor Musella emphasized the commitment of law enforcement to thoroughly investigate such incidents and hold those responsible accountable.
