INTERLAKEN, N.J. — A 34-year-old man was arrested on Monday after being linked to multiple attempted car burglaries in Interlaken, according to local police.
Officers identified the suspect as Mashon D. Wilson of Asbury Park, who was taken into custody after officers responded to several reports of attempted vehicle break-ins on Grassmere Avenue early Monday morning. Police said a victim provided a detailed description of the suspect, leading officers to locate Wilson a few blocks from the scene.
The arrest follows an earlier incident on October 26, when officers were dispatched at around 4:50 a.m. to Interlaken Avenue for a reported vehicle burglary attempt. Police said the suspect was unable to open the locked car and fled before officers arrived.
Wilson was charged with multiple counts of attempted burglary and obstruction of justice. He was transported to police headquarters for processing and later committed to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution, where he awaits his initial court appearance.
