BALTIMORE, MD — A Baltimore man has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the fatal shooting of 20-year-old Tavin Cooper earlier this month in the Southwest District, police announced.

The incident took place on October 2, 2024, when Southwest District officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 2500 block of McHenry Street around 9:49 p.m. Officers arrived to find Cooper suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. He was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition, but did not survive his injuries.

After an investigation, detectives identified 33-year-old Dominic Felder as the suspect in Cooper’s death. According to police, Felder allegedly shot Cooper at close range in the McHenry Street area.

On October 24, Warrant Apprehension detectives located Felder in the 300 block of South Catherine Street, where he was taken into custody without incident. Felder was then transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility and formally charged with first-degree murder.

Felder is currently being held without bail as he awaits further court proceedings.
