LIVINGSTON, N.J. — A 192-acre wildfire in Livingston Township, which began near Route 10 and Eisenhower Parkway, has reached 90% containment as of Sunday night, according to an update from the New Jersey Forest Fire Service. The fire, which had been burning since earlier in the day, prompted joint efforts from the Forest Fire Service and the Livingston Fire Department to bring it under control.
No structures were reported threatened or evacuated during the incident, and all previously closed roads have been reopened, the fire service confirmed. Authorities stated that firefighters would remain on the scene to monitor the area and maintain control lines until substantial rainfall occurs to fully extinguish remaining hotspots and ensure public safety.
“Smoke is expected to remain present until significant rain falls over the fire area,” the Forest Fire Service noted, advising residents to remain cautious in the vicinity.
The cause of the wildfire is still under investigation, with no details yet released about the origin of the blaze. Crews will continue to patrol the perimeter and address any lingering concerns as the fire reaches final containment.
