COLUMBIA, Md. — A Howard County man known as “Mr. Money Monk” has fulfilled a personal prediction by winning a $68,281 progressive jackpot on a FAST PLAY SLINGO ticket this month.

The anonymous winner, who gave himself the moniker for publicity purposes, bought the $3 ticket at Wegmans in Columbia but did not check it until two days later. He scanned the ticket at a nearby Shell station, discovering the life-changing message that directed him to Lottery headquarters.

“Mr. Money Monk” said the win is a reflection of a personal transformation he has undergone since 2019, following a period of depression after the loss of his dog. He shared that in 2023, he decided to focus on improving his health and fitness, documenting his journey through daily videos. He also increased his Lottery play with hopes of a big win, which came true this year.

Arriving at Lottery headquarters to claim his prize, the winner donned a monk’s robe, symbolizing his dedication and discipline. He plans to use his winnings to boost his savings and make investments.

The winning ticket was purchased at Wegmans on McGaw Road, which will receive a $682 bonus from the Maryland Lottery for selling the jackpot-winning SLINGO ticket.
