BALTIMORE, Md. — An Essex resident experienced a life-changing moment after winning a $50,000 top prize in the Maryland Lottery’s FAST PLAY Lightning Cash game.
The Baltimore County woman, who chose to remain anonymous and use the nickname “Mary,” has been playing Lottery games for over two decades. She shared her story after buying the winning ticket at a Royal Farms store in White Marsh. The $5 ticket yielded a top-prize win that she described as a shocking surprise.
“I kept my composure inside the store so I didn’t draw attention to myself,” she said. “But when I got in the car, I screamed and shouted so loud my family thought something was wrong with me!”
“Mary” plans to use her prize money to buy a new family car and intends to save the remainder for the future. She also expressed her intention to continue playing Lottery games.
The Royal Farms store at 10740 Pulaski Highway, where the winning ticket was sold, will receive a $500 bonus from the Maryland Lottery.
