WORCESTER, Mass. — Law enforcement officials are continuing efforts to locate Aaron Pennington, who is wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of his wife, Breanne Pennington, on Oct. 22, 2023. The search, which began following the incident, remains active as investigators focus on the Gardner area, according to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office.
Pennington, 33, was last seen leaving his residence at 42 Cherry St. in Gardner around 9 a.m. on the day of the shooting. His vehicle was found the next night in a wooded area off Kelton Street, prompting a large-scale search effort involving multiple agencies. A warrant for his arrest on murder charges was issued soon after.
Authorities, including the Gardner Police Department and Massachusetts State Police, have conducted numerous searches in the wooded areas where Pennington’s car was located. The most recent search in the area took place on Sept. 23, 2024. Specialized teams, such as the State Police Special Emergency Response Team and K-9 units, have been deployed alongside other resources in the ongoing effort.
Officials have described Pennington as a 6-foot-2 white male with blonde hair and blue eyes, weighing approximately 175 pounds. The District Attorney’s Office released the latest known photo of him, taken days before the shooting, to aid in identification efforts.
The public is urged not to approach Pennington if spotted, as he may be armed and dangerous. Anyone with information is asked to contact the State Police Detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office.
