Watch: Two arrested in Saks Fifth Avenue burglary in Chevy Chase, police seek additional suspects

GAITHERSBURG, Md. — Montgomery County police have arrested two men in connection with a large-scale burglary at a Saks Fifth Avenue store in Chevy Chase earlier this month. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of September 10, involved more than 20 suspects, according to police.

Mandel Greene, 27, of Washington, D.C., and Omar Ross Staley, 21, of Beltsville, were apprehended near the scene and have been charged with second-degree burglary. Greene is also facing an additional charge of theft for allegedly stealing merchandise valued between $1,500 and $25,000.

Police responded to the location in the 5500 block of Wisconsin Avenue around 1:10 a.m., following reports of a break-in. The preliminary investigation indicated that over 20 individuals forced their way into the store and made off with stolen goods. Officers arrived on scene to find a group fleeing the area and subsequently apprehended Greene and Staley.

Both suspects were transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where they were booked and later released on unsecured personal bonds.

Detectives have since reviewed surveillance footage and are seeking the public’s help in identifying the additional suspects. Police are urging anyone with information about the incident or the suspects to come forward.
