OAK BROOK, Ill. – TreeHouse Foods, Inc. (NYSE: THS) has issued a voluntary recall of certain frozen waffle products due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. This bacterium can cause serious infections in vulnerable populations such as young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. Healthy individuals may experience symptoms including high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Pregnant women are particularly at risk, as Listeria infections can lead to miscarriages and stillbirths.
The affected products were distributed across the United States and Canada, under various brand names. Consumers and retailers can verify the recalled items by checking the UPC, Lot Code, and Best By Date on the packaging. Images of the impacted products are available on the company’s website.
As of now, there have been no confirmed cases of illness linked to the recalled items. However, consumers who are concerned about potential health risks are advised to contact their healthcare provider.
The issue was identified during routine testing at a manufacturing facility. Consumers are urged to inspect their freezers, dispose of any recalled products, or return them to the point of purchase for a refund. For further inquiries, customers can reach TreeHouse Foods at 800-596-2903 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. CST, Monday through Friday.
