BETHLEHEM TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred early Sunday morning at the intersection of Freemansburg Avenue and 7th Street. Bethlehem Township Police responded to the scene at approximately 2:35 a.m., where officers discovered a two-vehicle collision.
A blue Volkswagen Passat was found with its sole occupant, the driver, deceased. The identity of the driver has not been released, pending notification by the Northampton County Coroner’s Office. The second vehicle, a black Volkswagen Jetta, was driven by a 24-year-old male from Nazareth, who sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The roadway was closed for about seven hours as investigators worked to determine the cause of the crash. Authorities reported that the Jetta had been traveling westbound on Freemansburg Avenue while the Passat was heading southbound on 7th Street.
