Cumberland, MD – The Cumberland City Police responded to two separate incidents involving assault and theft on Thursday. Both incidents resulted in arrests and subsequent legal proceedings.
On Thursday at approximately 4:45 PM, officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Bond Street for an assault report. They made contact with the victim who reported being assaulted by Brendan O’Toole. Officers noted injuries consistent with the victim’s account, and O’Toole was arrested and taken to the Allegany County Detention Center. He was later released on personal recognizance.
In a separate incident on the same day at about 6:30 AM, police responded to a theft complaint at a business on the 400 block of Virginia Avenue. The manager reported that Logan Frye had stolen items and fled, despite being previously banned from the premises. Officers found Frye nearby, arrested him, and he was held on a $1,000 bond after a hearing before a District Court Commissioner.
Brendan Riley O’Toole, 22, of Cumberland, MD, was charged with second-degree assault. Logan Reece Frye, 25, of Cumberland, MD, was charged with theft.
