Two Teens Caught in D.C. Armed Robbery Spree
Quick Arrest Made in Northwest D.C. Robbery Attempt WASHINGTON, DC - Following a Northwest robbery attempt, D.C. Metro Police Department’s Third District detectives have swiftly apprehended a suspect. The incident occurred today around 2:53 PM, in the 1200 block of W Street, Northwest. The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Lenare Leath, Jr. of Northwest D.C., allegedly brandished a knife and pushed the victim to the ground in an attempt to steal their property. After a struggle, the suspect fled empty-handed but was quickly caught by responding officers. The victim sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital. WASHINGTON, D.C. – A series of armed robberies in Northeast D.C. has led to the arrests of two suspects, bringing relief to the community.

On October 15 at approximately 4:36 p.m., the suspects approached a victim walking in the 5700 block of Dix Street. One suspect brandished a firearm, demanding the victim’s property, while another assaulted the victim and made off with their belongings before fleeing on foot.

Just minutes later, at approximately 4:40 p.m., another victim was targeted by multiple suspects at a bus stop in the 5100 block of Nannie Helene Burroughs Avenue. One of the suspects displayed a handgun and demanded property, and the group fled after the victim complied.

Following an extensive investigation, 18-year-old Tyrone Tyshane Brown of Suitland, MD, and a 16-year-old male from Northeast were arrested on October 17 and charged with Armed Robbery.
