SAYREVILLE, N.J. — Bruce A. Cymanski, 52, of Barnegat, was found guilty by a Middlesex County jury for the 1999 murder of 17-year-old Nancy Noga, a high school senior from Sayreville. The conviction comes after a three-week trial that concluded this week, bringing closure to a case that had remained unsolved for over two decades.
Noga was reported missing on January 7, 1999, after failing to return home from work. Five days later, on January 12, her body was discovered in a wooded area behind a strip mall on Ernston Road. An autopsy determined she had died from blunt force trauma after being struck with a blunt object.
Cymanski was convicted of multiple charges, including first-degree murder, felony murder, aggravated sexual assault, kidnapping, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. Prosecutors Katie Magee, Alexander Battey, and Nicolette Spallanzani presented evidence and testimony during the trial, which began on October 1, 2024.
Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone thanked law enforcement officers from the Sayreville Police Department, the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, and other agencies involved in the investigation for their persistence in solving the cold case.
Cymanski is scheduled to be sentenced on January 6, 2025, before Superior Court Judge Joseph Paone.
