Two Arrested in Connection with Violent Southeast DC Shooting

Washington, D.C. – A second suspect has been arrested in connection with a shooting that took place in Southeast D.C.

On July 24 at approximately 6:50 p.m., officers responded to the 1800 block of Marion Barry Avenue for reports of a traffic crash. Upon arrival, they discovered an adult male victim suffering from gunshot wounds inside a vehicle that had crashed into a retaining wall. The victim was transported to a local hospital by DC Fire and EMS, where he was treated for life-threatening injuries.

Yesterday,, a DC Superior Court arrest warrant led to the apprehension of 21-year-old Donte Bennett from Suitland, MD. He has been charged with Assault with Intent to Kill While Armed.

Previously, on August 28, a 21-year-old male from Southeast was also arrested and charged with Assault with Intent to Kill While Armed as a result of the ongoing investigation by detectives.
