Prince Frederick, MD – A motor vehicle collision occurred on Tuesday at approximately 2:37 p.m. on Hallowing Point Rd (Rt. 231) and Seagull Beach Road, prompting a response from the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Bureau. Deputies arriving at the scene determined one driver was severely injured, leading to the involvement of the Crash Reconstruction Team.

Initial investigations revealed that a 2017 Kia, driven by Juan Antonio Lopez, 22, from Lusby, was halted in the westbound lane waiting to turn left into a driveway. A 2017 Mack Truck, operated by John Henry Davis, 56, from Waldorf, was also traveling westbound on Rt. 231. The Mack truck collided with the rear of the Kia, pushing it into eastbound traffic, where it was hit by a 2015 Toyota driven by Robert Preston Young, 54, from St. Leonard.

Lopez sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local trauma center. Both Davis and Young emerged from the crash uninjured.

The preliminary finding indicates Davis’s failure to control his speed contributed to the collision. T
