STAFFORD, Va. — The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office released its daily incident report for Wednesday, Oct. 16, detailing a series of fraud, larceny, and public intoxication cases from recent days.
On Oct. 14, a Lewis Court resident reported a check fraud after discovering a payment to a contractor was stolen, altered, and cashed. Deputy D.S. Jett responded to the case, which is currently under investigation.
Several larceny incidents were also reported. At Ferry Farm Repair on Cool Springs Road, a catalytic converter was stolen from a Ford truck in the early hours of Oct. 14. Security footage revealed the theft occurred at 4:27 a.m. Later that afternoon, a juvenile was issued a shoplifting summons after being caught stealing sausages from a 7-Eleven on Garrisonville Road.
In a separate incident at Kohl’s on Stafford Market Place, two juveniles were apprehended for stealing approximately $165 worth of skin care items. Deputy J.A. Albright located the suspects in a neighboring store, where one juvenile provided a false identity. Both were charged with shoplifting, and additional charges were brought against the individual who attempted to deceive law enforcement.
Other larceny cases included a theft at Tobacco Holy Pipe on Richmond Highway, where a female suspect fled with $45 in merchandise, and a cartful of goods valued at over $1,400 was stolen from Walmart on Garrisonville Road. Deputy B.E. Vaughn linked the Walmart theft to similar incidents in nearby areas, and the investigation is ongoing.
Public intoxication cases were also highlighted, including one on Sledgehammer Drive on Oct. 14, where a male suspect known to authorities was found intoxicated in a parking lot. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober. Another case occurred on Sandy Ridge Road early on Oct. 15, when an intoxicated female mistakenly believed she was in Caroline County. She, too, was held until sober.
