Boston, MA – Officers from District A-1, while patrolling on Tuesday, October 1st, were alerted to an assault and battery occurring in Boston Commons near Brewer Fountain. Upon arrival, they discovered a male victim with multiple stab wounds. Officers administered first aid, including applying a tourniquet, before the victim was transported to a hospital.
Detectives from District A-1 launched an investigation and identified the suspect, leading to the issuance of an arrest warrant. The investigation culminated in the arrest of 27-year-old Philip Chen from Quincy, MA.
On Saturday, October 12th, at 12:10 AM, Drug Control Units from Districts A-1, E-5, and D-4 detained Chen in downtown Boston. He was seen at the intersection of Summer and Otis Streets during a separate drug investigation, and officers, aware of his warrant, arrested him without incident.
Chen faces charges in Boston Municipal Court for Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon Causing Serious Bodily Injury, Assault on an Elderly and/or Disabled Person with Serious Injury, and Larceny under $250 from an Elderly and/or Disabled Person.
