Washington, DC – A man walking his dog in Southeast DC was shot early Monday morning, leading to an investigation that has uncovered a second victim in nearby Maryland.
At approximately 1 a.m. on October 14, Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 5000 block of Bass Place, close to the Maryland state line. Upon arrival, they discovered a man suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim recounted to police that he was shot in the elbow while walking his dog and stated he did not know the shooter. He was subsequently transported to a hospital for medical treatment.
During the investigation, D.C. police learned that Prince George’s County police had found a second victim in Maryland, adding complexity to the case.
