Maryland – An unassuming medical specialist from Delaware has hit it big, claiming a $50,000 Powerball prize that has left him both excited and composed.

Known for his calm demeanor, the man shared with Lottery officials how his philosophy of staying even-keeled was put to the test when he scanned his Powerball ticket last week. “I’m generally a calm, laid-back guy, but $50,000 is $50,000!” he exclaimed.

An occasional Lottery player, he frequently crosses the border to try his luck with Maryland games, appreciating the chance to remain anonymous if he wins big. “I enjoy the games here, but I especially like the fact that I can remain anonymous if I win something big,” he revealed. “I want to keep it quiet when I win my millions,” he added with a smile.

The winning ticket was sold at the Pilot Travel Center located at 221 Belle Hill Road in Elkton. One of the $10 Quick Pick ticket’s five lines correctly matched four of the winning numbers along with the Power Ball in the August 31 drawing.

“It was a real shock when I saw it,” he recounted about his experience at the Cecil County Lottery retailer. “I must have scanned it five times, sure that it would change.” Despite the thrilling news, he managed to leave the store calmly. “It took a lot, but I kept my cool.”

With his third-tier prize, the latest Powerball winner plans to contribute to an important family event, sharing his luck with loved ones.
