FROSTBURG, Md. — A fire that caused an estimated $350,000 in damage to a single-family home on Upper Georges Creek Road is under investigation, authorities said. The fire, reported on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at 1:15 p.m., destroyed the one-story home owned by James Webber.
The Shaft Volunteer Fire Company responded to the scene with 30 firefighters, bringing the blaze under control within 10 minutes. No injuries were reported.
According to the Maryland State Fire Marshal, the fire originated in multiple areas of the home, and the cause has been deemed incendiary. The presence of smoke alarms is undetermined at this time, and there were no fire alarms or sprinkler systems in place.
