Off-duty FDNY firefighter arrested in the Bronx on assault charges

BRONX, N.Y. — An off-duty New York City firefighter was arrested early Sunday morning and charged with multiple offenses, according to police. Ezequil Hernandez, 33, was taken into custody at approximately 12:48 a.m. within the confines of the NYPD’s 45th Precinct in the Bronx.

Hernandez, an FDNY firefighter, faces charges including criminal obstruction of breathing, assault in the third degree, and criminal mischief. Details regarding the circumstances leading to the arrest have not yet been disclosed by authorities.
