Newark, N – Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying suspects involved in a robbery that took place on Saturday.
The incident occurred at approximately 5:56 a.m. at an Exxon Gas Station on Springfield Avenue. A blue Dodge Caravan, bearing New Jersey license plate W25UWS, arrived at the scene. The driver requested $5.00 worth of fuel, and after a credit card transaction, a dispute allegedly arose over a perceived overcharge.

During the altercation, four female suspects and one additional male suspect reportedly attacked the gas station attendant. The group is also accused of stealing $100.00 from the victim’s possession.
The suspects subsequently fled in two separate vehicles, one being a blue Dodge Caravan that has since been recovered. The second vehicle is described as a gold or tan Buick with dealer plates DWL-38 and visible damage on the front bumper.

Newark authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the second vehicle or suspect identities to contact their Crime Stopper tip line. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the Police Division’s website.
