Teen Arrested in Violent Armed Robbery in Northeast DC
Quick Arrest Made in Northwest D.C. Robbery Attempt WASHINGTON, DC - Following a Northwest robbery attempt, D.C. Metro Police Department’s Third District detectives have swiftly apprehended a suspect. The incident occurred today around 2:53 PM, in the 1200 block of W Street, Northwest. The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Lenare Leath, Jr. of Northwest D.C., allegedly brandished a knife and pushed the victim to the ground in an attempt to steal their property. After a struggle, the suspect fled empty-handed but was quickly caught by responding officers. The victim sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital. WASHINGTON, DC – A teenager has been arrested following a terrifying armed robbery incident in Northeast DC.

On October 9, at approximately 6:58 p.m., the victim parked his vehicle and walked toward a restaurant in the 1600 block of Benning Road, NE. As he walked, three suspects approached him, with one displaying a handgun and demanding his property, including his vehicle keys. The victim complied, and the suspects fled the scene in his vehicle.

Later that evening, Sixth District officers spotted the stolen vehicle occupied by multiple individuals in the 4900 block of Nannie Hellen Burroughs Avenue, Northeast. One suspect was arrested, and two firearms were recovered.

A 16-year-old male from Northwest, D.C., has been charged with Armed Robbery (Gun), Theft One (Stolen Auto), Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, Carrying a Pistol Without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

The Metropolitan Police Department is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for violent crimes in the District of Columbia.
