BRONX, N.Y. – A New York State parole officer and another man have been indicted on attempted murder and assault charges following a shooting at a Bronx nightclub on Labor Day, the Bronx District Attorney announced Friday. Three others, including the club’s owners, face charges related to tampering with evidence.

Michael Stewart, 49, a parole officer with the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, has been charged with attempted murder, assault, reckless endangerment, and falsifying business records. He was arraigned in Bronx Supreme Court, where bail was set at $75,000 cash. He is scheduled to appear in court again on December 19. Prodrika Thompson, 40, who is also facing attempted murder charges, remains hospitalized and will be arraigned at a later date.

The incident occurred around 1:45 a.m. on September 2, 2024, at the Kutty Bar and Lounge, located at 2525 Boston Road. According to the investigation, Thompson was removed from the club and subsequently retrieved a semi-automatic pistol from his vehicle across the street. He allegedly returned to the club and fired two shots, hitting a man in the leg.

Stewart, who was off duty at the time, witnessed Thompson’s actions and fired a shot at him. After Thompson walked across Boston Road, Stewart allegedly fired again from a distance of approximately 115 feet, striking Thompson in the groin. Thompson attempted to escape in his vehicle but crashed nearby, reportedly due to his injuries. Emergency responders treated Thompson at the scene.

Authorities allege that Stewart left the location following the incident and returned nearly an hour later.

In connection with the case, Kurt Earle and Obrien Wilson, both 48 and owners of the Kutty Bar, along with Richard Harrison, 48, a security guard at the club, have been charged with tampering with physical evidence and obstructing governmental administration. The three men allegedly collected shell casings from Stewart’s firearm and misled officers investigating the incident.

“One man is charged with shooting towards a group of people allegedly because he was ejected from the club,” said Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark. “A NYS parole officer allegedly showed disregard when he fired at the suspect from a distance behind him, then allegedly fled the scene. We cannot tolerate gunfire on our streets by anyone.”

The case remains under investigation as authorities continue to review the events surrounding the shooting.
