FREDERICK, MD — A fortunate woman from Western Maryland has struck gold in the Lottery, thanks to a generous gift from her mother. The Frederick resident won $50,000 in the Sept. 23 Bonus Match 5 drawing, despite not regularly playing the games herself.

Her mother purchased the winning $6 ticket at Walmart, located at 7400 Guilford Drive. The daughter had jokingly told her mom, “I’m tired of working and I need you to get me my winning Lottery ticket!” Although the prize isn’t quite enough for retirement, it will provide a significant boost toward paying off her student loans.

The winning numbers were selected based on the birthdates of her grandchildren, adding a personal touch to the victory. With the windfall, the lucky woman hopes to alleviate her college debt and perhaps even fulfill her dream of vacationing in Paris.

Walmart will also enjoy the benefits of this win, receiving a $500 bonus for selling the top-prize ticket. This win marks the 26th top-prize Bonus Match 5 ticket sold this year.
