FORT LEE, N.J. — Morning commuters across New Jersey faced significant traffic disruptions Monday due to a series of crashes, delays, and volume-related slowdowns on major roadways.
A crash on the George Washington Bridge’s lower level eastbound, near mid-span in Fort Lee, blocked the right lane as of 8:11 a.m., contributing to heavy congestion. Delays on the lower level extended to 60 minutes for drivers heading from I-95 to the Alexander Hamilton Bridge.
Elsewhere, a traffic signal malfunction on NJ 73 southbound, south of the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge in Palmyra, led to the closure of one right lane and shoulder, causing delays of up to 10 minutes.
In Trenton, a crash on US 1 northbound at Perry Street closed the left lane as of 7:56 a.m. Motorists were advised to use caution, with expected delays of five to 10 minutes.
Further delays were reported on the Garden State Parkway, where a crash northbound near Exit 90 in Brick Township blocked the right shoulder. Heavy traffic due to volume added to the congestion, with a four-mile delay stretching north of the Toms River Toll Plaza.
In Paterson, a crash on I-80 eastbound at Exit 57 closed the center lane, slowing traffic during the morning rush hour.
Drivers are advised to stay informed and plan for delays on major routes across the state.
