LAURINBURG, N.C. — Police are investigating a fatal shooting that took place early Friday morning at a Waffle House in Laurinburg. The victim, identified as Burlie Dawson Locklear, 18, was shot while working at the restaurant.
Officers from the Laurinburg Police Department responded to reports of shots fired at the Waffle House on Scotland Crossing Drive at around 12:42 a.m. Upon arrival, they found Locklear inside the restaurant suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to Scotland Memorial Hospital, where he later died.

According to investigators, the suspect, described as a light-skinned Black male with long dreadlocks, facial hair, and wearing a dark blue hoodie, became agitated after ordering food. As he left the restaurant and approached his vehicle, he turned and fired two shots, one of which struck Locklear.
The suspect fled the scene in a dark gray Chevrolet, believed to be a 2014 model, heading toward West Boulevard. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Laurinburg Police Department or submit anonymous tips through Scotland Crimestoppers.

Police continue to search for the suspect as they gather more details.
