Police investigate hit-and-run crash involving pedestrian in Woodbridge

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that left a 57-year-old woman with life-threatening injuries early Thursday morning, according to authorities.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:07 a.m. at the intersection of Daniel Stuart Square and Maryland Avenue. Investigators revealed that the driver of a red Kia subcompact crossover struck the pedestrian while attempting to turn left onto Richmond Highway. The pedestrian was crossing Richmond Highway at the time and was reportedly wearing dark-colored clothing.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene before police arrived, leaving the victim critically injured. She was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of her injuries.

Police have not yet identified the driver or the vehicle involved, but the car is described as a red, boxy-style Kia with dark-colored rims. Investigators are asking anyone with information about the crash or the driver to contact police. The investigation is ongoing.
