CHERRY HILL, N.J. — An investigation is ongoing after shots were fired inside the emergency room at Jefferson Cherry Hill Hospital on Saturday afternoon, according to local authorities.
The incident occurred shortly after 12 p.m. when a police officer from Hi-Nella, New Jersey, brought a patient to the hospital in Camden County. Sources indicate that once inside the emergency room, the patient managed to seize the officer’s firearm and began discharging it.
No injuries were reported, and the patient was quickly subdued. A hospital employee who spoke with WPVI-TV stated that he received an all-clear notification regarding an active shooter alert but had not received any prior warnings about the situation.
