Chesapeake Police Department Activates First School Zone Speed Camera on Kempsville Road

CHESAPEAKE, VA — The Chesapeake Police Department announced that the first school zone speed camera will become active on Monday along Kempsville Road as Greenbrier Christian Academy begins its school year. Additional speed cameras will be activated across Chesapeake Public Schools zones starting Tuesday, September 3.

Signage has been placed in each school zone to alert drivers about the photo enforcement. The department emphasizes that before any citations are issued, each potential violation captured by the cameras will be individually reviewed by a Chesapeake Police Officer. Citations, if issued, must be paid online or by mail.

A list of active camera locations is available on the Chesapeake city website at www.cityofchesapeake.net/1860/PhotoSafe-Speed-Enforcement. For any questions regarding the program, residents are encouraged to contact the Chesapeake Police Department’s PhotoSafe office at 757-382-3535.
