Prince George’s County Police Investigating Fatal Shooting in Lanham

LANHAM, Md., Monday — Homicide Unit detectives with the Prince George’s County Police Department are investigating the fatal shooting of a New Carrollton man that occurred late Sunday night in Lanham. The victim has been identified as 38-year-old Kamil Ahmed.

Officers responded to the 7700 block of Finns Lane at approximately 10:10 p.m. on Sunday following a request for a welfare check. Upon arrival, they discovered Ahmed in a parking lot, suffering from trauma. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have not yet determined a motive for the shooting and are working to identify the suspect or suspects involved in the incident.

The police department is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.

“Detectives are working to determine a motive and identify a suspect(s),” the Prince George’s County Police Department said in a statement. The investigation is ongoing.
