CARNEGIE, Pa. — A woman was found dead early Sunday morning under a bridge in Carnegie, prompting an investigation by the Allegheny County Police Department’s Homicide Unit. The discovery was made after a call to 9-1-1 reported cries for help in the 200 block of Mary Street.
First responders arrived at the scene around 6:20 a.m., where they found an adult female victim who had been severely beaten. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. According to preliminary information, the victim had been living under the bridge along with two men.
Earlier in the evening, police and medics had been called to the same location for a medical emergency involving one of the men, who had suffered a seizure and was transported to a hospital. At that time, neither the woman nor the second man appeared to have any injuries.
When authorities were called back to the location, they found the woman beaten. The second man was detained and later taken to Allegheny County Police Headquarters. Police have confirmed that all individuals involved have been identified and that there is no ongoing threat to the community.
Detectives are working closely with the District Attorney’s Office as the investigation continues. “This is what happened,” the Allegheny County Police Department said in a statement.
