BROOKLYN, N.Y. — A 42-year-old man was killed and two others were injured in a stabbing incident early Sunday morning in Brooklyn’s Sunset Park neighborhood. The New York City Police Department is actively investigating the incident, which occurred in the vicinity of 50th Street and 4th Avenue within the confines of the 72nd Precinct.
Authorities responded to a 911 call at approximately 7:20 a.m. on August 18, 2024. Upon arrival, officers discovered two male victims—one aged 42 and the other 30—suffering from multiple stab wounds. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) transported both men to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn. The 42-year-old victim, identified as Melvin Gomez Nunez of Brooklyn, was pronounced dead at the hospital. The 30-year-old victim is reported to be in stable condition.
Shortly after, police were informed of a third victim—a 38-year-old man—who walked into Brooklyn Hospital Center with multiple stab wounds related to the same incident. He is also listed in stable condition.
The circumstances leading up to the stabbings remain unclear, and no arrests have been made. The NYPD’s investigation is ongoing as detectives work to determine the motive behind the attack and identify any suspects involved.
