SAVAGE, MD—A Michigan man claimed the final $5 million top prize of the Maryland Lottery’s 50th anniversary scratch-off game, 50 Years!, marking the conclusion of the anniversary celebrations.
The event took place on Tuesday when the lucky winner, who comes from a rural area west of Grand Rapids, made his winning purchase.
The ticket was bought at 2 Go Convenience & Deli in Savage.
This scratch-off, the first in Maryland Lottery history to be offered at a $50 price point, quickly rose to prominence, topping the Lottery’s Top 40 list of scratch-offs for several months after its release in February 2023. As of this week, the game still ranked number 8 on the list.
Despite being introduced over a year ago, the 50 Years! game has maintained significant popularity among players, rivaled by another $50 scratch-off, the $5,000,000 Cash, which currently holds the number 3 spot on the Top 40 list.
This final prize claim marks a significant milestone in Maryland Lottery’s history, celebrating half a century of gaming.
