Newark Police Request Public Assistance to Identify Auto Burglary Suspect

NEWARK, NJ—The Newark Department of Public Safety is seeking assistance from the public in identifying a suspect involved in a recent auto burglary. Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé has released a request following an incident that occurred on July 16, 2024.

The burglary took place around 7 AM on Pennington Street. Responding officers met with the victim, who reported that an individual had entered their unlocked vehicle and stolen a wallet from the center console. Surveillance footage captured the suspect committing the burglary.

Further investigation revealed that the suspect attempted to use the victim’s credit card at a local fast food restaurant, though the attempt was unsuccessful. The Newark Police urge anyone with information to come forward to assist in the identification and apprehension of the suspect.
