NEW YORK, NY – A devastating accident occurred on Thursday, July 4, at approximately 8:53 PM near Water Street and Jackson Street, leading to multiple casualties and injuries among pedestrians. NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad reported that a Ford F150, driven by 44-year-old Daniel Hyden of Monmouth Junction, New Jersey, was speeding northbound on Water Street when it crashed into eleven pedestrians at Corlears Hook Park.
The immediate fatalities included Lucille Pinkney, 59, and Hernan Pinkney, 38, both residents of 638 Water Street, New York, NY. Ana Morel, 43, from 445 East 120 Street, and Emily Ruiz, 30, from 55 Jackson Street, were later pronounced deceased due to the injuries sustained in the incident earlier this week.
In addition to the fatalities, several other pedestrians were critically injured and are currently receiving medical treatment at various hospitals. The conditions range from critical to stable, involving ages from 11 to 59 years old.
Daniel Hyden was arrested at the scene and faces multiple charges including assault, aggravated vehicular homicide, and driving while intoxicated. The NYPD continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
