Ocean County, NJ—No Paw Left Behind Animal Rescue, dedicated to saving neglected and abandoned animals in Monmouth and Ocean County, New Jersey, is facing a severe crisis. The group is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity, the Animal Rescue Group. They are currently dealing with a devastating parvovirus outbreak among a litter of puppies they rescued from Georgia. Despite their relentless efforts, the virus has already claimed the life of one puppy, with several more fighting for survival.
After consulting multiple veterinarians, the rescue team found a potential lifeline in a treatment involving monoclonal antibodies. This method has shown promising results: three of the affected puppies received the treatment, and two became stable enough to continue recovery at home. However, one puppy remains in critical condition in the hospital, undergoing intensive care that includes a feeding tube and a plasma transfusion, with treatment costs soaring above $8,500.
The crisis deepened yesterday as symptoms appeared in three additional puppies. These were immediately taken for treatment, hoping the monoclonal antibodies would prove effective again. While the rescue is grateful for the availability of this advanced treatment, it comes with high costs and no guarantees.
Special acknowledgments go to Jackson Veterinary and Mt Laurel Veterinary Hospital in New Jersey for their readiness and expertise in administering the monoclonal antibody treatment, a rarity in the state.
Given these urgent challenges, the Animal Rescue Group is appealing for donations to support its ongoing medical expenses and rescue operations. It also calls on the community to help spread the word about its needs. Contributions from the public are crucial to providing the necessary care for these vulnerable puppies and supporting the group’s mission to find forever-loving homes for rescued animals.
