Montgomery County Woman Wins $31K in Racetrax Game During Night Out

Silver Spring, MD – A casual night out with friends turned into a big win for a Silver Spring resident, who claimed a $31,233 prize from playing Racetrax, a computer-animated horse racing game.

The win occurred shortly after the July 4 holiday when the public health worker and single mother of two decided to try her luck at the Town Center Market in Riverdale. Opting for something different, she placed a $6 Trifecta bet on horses 12, 10, and 11 to finish in that exact order. Distracted by the company of her friends, she missed the race but later checked her ticket on a friend’s suggestion.

“I was shocked when I saw the amount because I have never won that amount of money ever,” she expressed, still in disbelief over her windfall.

Following the win, the festive mood led her to buy drinks for everyone at her table. The winner plans to use her prize for her son’s college tuition and some home updates.

Town Center Market, where the winning ticket was purchased, will receive a $312.33 bonus from the Maryland Lottery for selling a winning ticket worth over $10,000.
