Knife-Wielding Old Bridge Man Arrested Following Disturbance

Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Chief Thomas J. Montagna of the Old Bridge Police Department announced that Giovanni Chiarappa, 49, of Old Bridge, has been charged in connection with a disturbance that occurred on July 9, 2024.

At approximately 6:30 AM, authorities responded to a residence on Pensacola Street in Old Bridge after receiving a report of a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers found Chiarappa wielding a knife outside the residence. Despite attempts to deescalate the situation, Chiarappa retreated into the home.

After several hours of negotiation, the incident concluded peacefully, with Chiarappa surrendering without further incident. He was subsequently arrested and charged with third-degree Terroristic Threats, third-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, Simple Assault, and Harassment.
