NEWARK, NJ — The Newark Department of Public Safety is seeking public assistance in identifying suspects involved in a robbery that took place on July 6, 2024. Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé has released information regarding the incident and the vehicle believed to be used during the crime.
The robbery occurred around 2 a.m. on Napoleon Street, where responding officers discovered a victim with facial lacerations. According to reports, the victim was assaulted and robbed by two or three Black male suspects who emerged from a white-colored, four-door vehicle, possibly a Kia. The assailants reportedly struck the victim in the face with a handgun before taking his wallet, which contained $1,600, identification, and debit cards. The suspects, dressed in dark clothing, returned to the vehicle and fled the scene. The described vehicle also featured tinted windows and a fog light on the driver’s side.
Newark police are urging anyone with information about the vehicle or the suspects to come forward to aid in the ongoing investigation. This can include any details that might help in locating the vehicle and identifying those responsible for the robbery.
