New Jersey Tuesday Morning Commuter and Traffic Report

Newark, NJ – As of 8:45 a.m., a crash on NJ 21 northbound at Emmet Street in Newark has resulted in the closure of one center lane. Commuters are advised to proceed with caution as traffic may be affected.

In Woodcliff Lake, a vehicle fire on the Garden State Parkway southbound, south of Exit 171 – Glen Road to Chestnut Ridge Road, has blocked the right lane and shoulder. This incident was reported at 8:38 a.m. and is causing significant disruptions.

Earlier this morning, a water main break on NJ 28 westbound, east of US 202/US 206 in Somerville, led to the closure of all lanes. Two-way traffic is currently being managed on the eastbound roadway as of 5:52 a.m.

Heavy traffic and sun glare have been reported on I-295 northbound from Exit 28 – NJ 168/Black Horse Pike in Bellmawr to Exit 32 – CR 561/Haddonfield Berlin Road in Cherry Hill Township. This situation, reported at 8:44 a.m., is causing a 10-15 minute delay.

Minor delays are affecting I-295 southbound from Exit 30 – Warwick Road in Lawnside to Exit 27 – I-76 to I-676 in Bellmawr. All lanes remain open, but volume is causing the slowdown as of 8:43 a.m.

On the Garden State Parkway, there are delays for southbound traffic exiting at Exit 130B-A – US 1 in Woodbridge Township and for northbound traffic exiting at Exit 127 – US 9/I-287/NJ 440, also in Woodbridge Township. These delays are due to heavy volume, reported at 8:42 a.m.

Traffic on the Garden State Parkway northbound is experiencing a two-mile delay from south of Exit 147 – Clinton Avenue in East Orange to south of Exit 149 – CR 506 in Bloomfield, reported at 8:41 a.m. Southbound traffic on the Parkway is also delayed from north of Exit 148 – John F. Kennedy Drive North in Bloomfield to Exit 145 – I-280 in East Orange.

NJ 29 northbound is seeing delays from NJ 129 in Hamilton Township to Warren Street in Trenton as of 8:39 a.m., with all lanes open but heavy traffic due to volume.

The Holland Tunnel’s south tunnel eastbound is experiencing delays, with a travel time of 20 minutes from New Jersey Turnpike Exit 14C and from New Jersey 139 at Tonnelle Circle. This was reported at 8:38 a.m.

Further delays are noted on I-295 northbound approaching Exit 67 – US 1 in Lawrence Township as of 8:38 a.m., and on NJ 70 westbound from CR 627/Cooper Landing Road to CR 644/Grove Street/Haddonfield Road in Cherry Hill Township as of 8:37 a.m.

NJ 55 northbound is delayed approaching NJ 42 in Deptford Township, I-76 westbound from Exit 1A – NJ 42/I-295 in Bellmawr to the Walt Whitman Bridge in Gloucester City, and NJ 42 northbound from Exit 10B – CR 681/Lower Landing Road in Gloucester Township to I-295 in Bellmawr, all due to volume as reported earlier this morning.

The New Jersey Turnpike’s Western Spur northbound is delayed from the Southern Mixing Bowl to south of Interchange 15W – I-280 in Newark, with a two-mile delay noted as of 8:35 a.m.

Delays continue on the New Jersey Turnpike inner roadway northbound near Interchange 14 – I-78/US 1&9 in Elizabeth, with a one-and-a-half-mile delay due to volume as of 8:34 a.m. The George Washington Bridge lower and upper levels eastbound are experiencing delays, with a travel time of 25 minutes from I-95 at I-80 to the Alexander Hamilton Bridge, reported at 8:27 a.m.
