WALL TOWNSHIP, NJ — On Friday, July 5, at approximately 5:31 p.m., the Wall Township Police Department responded to a call regarding a multi-vehicle accident at the intersection of State Highway 34 and Hurley Pond Road.
The investigation revealed that a 25-year-old woman from Farmingdale was driving a 2017 Honda CRV northbound on State Highway 34 when she veered off the roadway, crossed the grass median, and entered the southbound lanes. Her vehicle collided with a 2014 Nissan Rogue occupied by a 60-year-old woman and a 61-year-old man, both from Hazlet, who were traveling southbound on State Highway 34.
The 25-year-old driver of the Honda CRV, who was not wearing her seatbelt, was found trapped inside her vehicle on the passenger floor. She was extricated by the Glendola Fire Department. The 60-year-old woman in the Nissan Rogue also required extrication from her vehicle. All involved parties were transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune by Wall Township Police Emergency Medical Services and Belmar Emergency Medical Services with moderate injuries.
The roadway was closed for approximately an hour and a half while officers investigated the collision. Officers at the scene detected an odor of alcoholic beverages from the 25-year-old Farmingdale woman. The collision is still under investigation, and charges are pending the results of a toxicology report.
