North Plainfield, NJ – Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald, Chief of County Detectives Francisco Roman Jr., and North Plainfield Chief of Police William Parenti announced the arrest of 68-year-old Pierre Joseph of Plainfield, NJ, in connection with the sexual assault of two minors in North Plainfield.
On June 23, at approximately 4:38 PM, North Plainfield Police responded to a 911 call reporting a possible sexual assault of a minor at a local church. Upon arrival, officers found that Joseph had been detained by church members. He was then transported to the North Plainfield Police Department for questioning.
Detectives from the North Plainfield Police Department notified the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victim’s Unit. A 7-year-old male victim disclosed at the Child Advocacy Center that a church member had followed him into the bathroom, pulled down his pants and underwear, and touched him. This incident was reported to another individual, who informed the church pastor.
During the investigation, it was discovered that a 9-year-old male victim had experienced a similar incident with Joseph in January or February 2024. The 9-year-old also disclosed at the Child Advocacy Center that he was touched on his private parts in the church bathroom.
Following the investigation by detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victim’s Unit and the North Plainfield Police Department, Pierre Joseph was arrested on June 23. He was charged with two counts of 2nd-degree Sexual Assault and two counts of 3rd-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Joseph was lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing.
