Blackwood, NJ – On Friday, July 5, at approximately 3:28 PM, Gloucester Township Police Officers observed heavy smoke in the area of 1900 Erial Road. Officers located flames in the rear lot of a commercial business, contained to several large box trailers and a truck.
Fire departments from Erial, Blackwood, and Lambs Terrace, along with Cherry Hill, Pennsauken, and Voorhees Fire Departments, arrived and quickly gained control of the fire. Camden County HazMat, the Camden County Office of Emergency Management, the Gloucester Township Office of Emergency Management, and Inspira BLS also assisted.

While there were no injuries to any employees of the business, three firefighters were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. A portion of Erial Road was closed for several hours during the incident but has since reopened.
The fire does not appear to be suspicious but will remain under investigation by the Camden County Fire Marshal’s Office and the Erial Fire Department Fire Marshal.
Residents are reminded to check their fire suppression systems, including alerts and audible alarm systems, to ensure they are operational. Smoke alarms are crucial in any fire escape plan, providing early warning to help evacuate quickly.
