JACKSON TOWNSHIP, NJ—The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office has announced charges against Michael Vulpis, 26, from Freehold Borough. He faces multiple charges including Attempted Murder following an incident on June 27 in Jackson Township.
On the early morning of June 27, at around 12:20 a.m., Jackson Township Police responded to a call at Larsen Road where they discovered a 27-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his face. The injured man was quickly transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for treatment and was later released.
Investigators from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, along with Jackson Township Police and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office, determined that the shooting occurred while the victim and a female were seated in a parked car. A blue sedan blocked their vehicle, and two men emerged, assaulting the victim as he attempted to exit, culminating in the shooting.
Michael Vulpis was identified as the shooter in this violent encounter. He was arrested at his home on Tuesday and is currently held at the Ocean County Jail awaiting a detention hearing.
