RAWLINGS, MD – A devastating motor vehicle collision on McMullen Highway (Route 220) in the Rawlings area resulted in the deaths of two local residents. The incident occurred on Monday, July 1, 2024, and involved two vehicles with each driver trapped inside upon the arrival of emergency services.
The deceased were identified as 35-year-old Zachary Michael Robinson and 41-year-old Laura Michelle Wilson, both from Rawlings, Maryland. Despite the life-saving efforts of law enforcement and emergency personnel, both Robinson and Wilson succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
The Allegany County Sheriff’s Office has handed over the collision investigation to their specialized Crash Team. Additional support is being provided by the Cumberland City Police Crash Team and drone pilots from Mountain Maryland Search and Rescue.
Authorities are urging anyone who directly witnessed the collision to come forward. Witnesses are requested to contact Senior Deputy Plummer or Senior Deputy Martel at 301-777-1585 to aid in the ongoing investigation.
- Serious Two-Vehicle Collision in Berkeley Township
BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, NJ – A severe motor vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Jamaica Blvd and Bimini Drive in Berkeley Township on the morning of July 3, 2024. Berkeley Township Police were dispatched to the scene at approximately 9:15 AM where they found a tan Toyota Camry and a white Honda Civic both with substantial damage.
The initial investigation indicates that the Camry was traveling west on Jamaica Blvd and failed to heed the stop sign at Bimini Drive. As it entered the intersection, it was broadsided by the Civic, which was heading north on Bimini Drive. The impact propelled both vehicles off the road; the Camry ended up on a front lawn on Bimini Drive, and the Civic stopped on the northwest sidewalk of Jamaica Blvd.
The driver of the Camry sustained serious injuries and had to be extricated from the vehicle before being airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. The driver of the Civic was transported by ambulance to Community Medical Center in Toms River.
The Ocean County Sheriff’s Department CSI unit also responded to assist with the investigation. The crash is currently under investigation by Officer Ed Hendrickson of the Berkeley Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Bureau. - New Kensington Man Charged in Fatal Pedestrian Crash in North Braddock
NORTH BRADDOCK, PA – The Allegheny County Police Department has charged Tyrell Knight, a 37-year-old man from New Kensington, in connection with a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred in North Braddock.
The incident took place on the morning of November 9, 2023, near the intersection of Braddock Avenue and O’Connell Boulevard. Upon their arrival at 8:14 AM, first responders found 75-year-old Harry King critically injured after being struck by a vehicle. King was transported to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Knight, the driver, stayed at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement. North Braddock Borough Police called for the support of the Allegheny County Police Department’s Homicide and Collision Reconstruction Units to assist in the investigation. Through witness statements and evidence at the scene, it was determined that Knight was driving westbound at a high speed and erratically, crossing into the eastbound lane and onto a grassy area before hitting King.
Further investigation revealed Knight was driving with a suspended license. A toxicology report indicated the presence of cannabinoids and THC in his system at the time of the crash. Knight has been charged with homicide by vehicle, involuntary manslaughter, and operating a vehicle involved in a death while not properly licensed.
Following his arraignment this morning, he is now held in the Allegheny County Jail.
- Armed Carjacking at New Castle Wawa Under Investigation
NEW CASTLE, DE – Early this morning, the Delaware State Police responded to an armed carjacking incident at a Wawa store located at 117 South Dupont Highway in New Castle. The incident occurred at approximately 2:18 AM, when an unidentified suspect confronted a 25-year-old victim in the parking lot.
According to the police report, the suspect, described only as an unknown black male, demanded the victim's car keys while displaying a firearm by lifting his shirt. The victim complied, and the suspect subsequently fled in the victim's Honda Accord toward State Route 273.
As of now, surveillance footage or images of the suspect are not available. The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Robbery Unit is actively investigating the incident and is seeking any information that could lead to the identification and arrest of the suspect involved.
