FREDERICK COUNTY, VA – Miles Adkins, 39, a former U.S. Marine and current member of the Frederick County School Board, has been sentenced to 12 days in jail by a federal judge for his involvement in the January 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol riot. Adkins was convicted of two misdemeanors: disorderly and disruptive conduct and parading and demonstrating inside the Capitol.
Despite the sentence and calls for his resignation, Adkins, a Stephens City resident, remains steadfast in his position on the school board. He told local outlets, including the Winchester Star, that he believes the Justice Department is applying a “double standard” and expressed regret for the violence on January 6, while also alleging “misinformation” about the events of that day. Adkins reiterated his commitment to his role, emphasizing the importance of education and improving test scores.
Addressing his critics, Adkins stated, “You’re gonna need a bigger wrecking ball to get me out of there.”
Adkins was elected to the school board in 2021.
