Freehold, NJ – A firefighter from West Long Branch has been charged with multiple criminal offenses related to the falsification and destruction of official records, as announced by Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago on Tuesday.
Ronald Guidetti, 61, of Long Branch, is facing charges of third-degree False Uttering, third-degree Forgery, and fourth-degree Falsifying or Tampering with Records. The charges stem from an investigation initiated earlier this year by the Prosecutor’s Office, following suspicions about the authenticity of two training certificates at West Long Branch Fire Company No. 2.
The investigation revealed that Guidetti had created the falsified certificates in response to an Open Public Records Act (OPRA) request and later removed and destroyed them after the request was fulfilled.
Guidetti turned himself in to authorities yesterday and was released on his own recognizance, pending future court proceedings in Monmouth County Superior Court.
