Secaucus Police Arrest Two in Connection with Armed Hotel Robbery

SECAUCUS, NJ — Following a five-month investigation, the Secaucus Police Department has successfully apprehended two suspects involved in an armed robbery at the Meadowlands Plaza Hotel. The incident, which occurred early on February 8, 2024, involved suspects Cristopher Molina Herrera, 30, and Rikelvin DeLeon Diaz, 33, both residents of Newark.

According to police reports, Herrera and Diaz allegedly impersonated police officers to gain entry into a hotel room at 40 Wood Avenue. They threatened the occupants, one of whom was nearly pistol-whipped, and fled with money and personal items.

Herrera was arrested without incident on June 27, 2024, at his workplace in Clifton, NJ. Diaz was taken into custody the following day in Elizabeth, NJ, also without incident.

Both suspects have been charged with robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery and are currently held at the Hudson County Jail. Chief Dennis Miller of the Secaucus Police Department praised the diligent efforts of the Detective Division and Anti-Crime Unit in bringing the suspects to justice, reaffirming the department’s commitment to pursuing all leads in criminal cases to protect the community and support victims.
