NEWARK, NJ — The Newark Department of Public Safety, led by Director Fritz G. Fragé, is requesting public assistance to identify a male suspect involved in two separate burglaries in Newark. The incidents occurred on June 24 and June 17, 2024, targeting a residential building and a church, respectively.
In the early hours of June 24th, police were called to a burglary at a residential building located in the 600 block of Clinton Avenue. Surveillance footage captured a Black male suspect forcibly entering the building’s maintenance room after prying open a side door. The suspect absconded with valuable items including a 100-piece Husky Tool Kit, a Ryobi drill, and various cleaning supplies, totaling approximately $900 in value.
A week earlier, on June 17th, a similar incident unfolded around 1:56 a.m. at a church on the 100 block of Osborne Terrace. Responding to a burglary alarm, officers found evidence of forced entry through a lower-level window and a second-floor window. The suspect, seen in surveillance footage, managed to escape with a case of drinks and a large package of paper towels, which he threw out of the second-floor window before fleeing eastbound on Hawthorne Avenue.
The suspect is described as a Black male in his late 40s, sporting a salt and pepper-colored goatee. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, silver sweatpants with a black stripe, a baseball cap featuring a Golden State Warriors logo, and red sneakers.
Anyone with information about this suspect or the burglaries is urged to contact Newark Police as they continue their efforts to resolve these cases.
